Beautiful signed autograph letter, dat. Venice 19 January 1896 by the Holy Father, elected Pontiff in 1903 and proclaimed Saint in 1954, dating back to the time when he held the post of Patriarch of Venice, addressed to the Marquis Giambattista Guerrieri Gonzaga, to whom he gave some information on a rich merchant and on the daughters of the latter. "The family of Signor Angelo Toso, a grain trader, owes all his fortune to the labour of the aforementioned, who began as a simple mill worker, became master of it and little by little, mostwonderfully, in honest ways, increased his substance, which we do not however believe to be vast.
